Anne needed to paint Porkie's
sleeping quarters while Rhys makes his way in and out of the
flower bed! Nickki and Anne visited The HerbFarm...I caught her
as she came inside. Kaylie is sure growing
bigger! |
 |
Rich and I hiked up to these
beautiful water falls on Deep Creek near our
cabin. |
|
| We spent three days cutting wood at
our cabin and playing in the forest. The weather was good and we
cut the logs into sections, split them, and formed a chain to
stack them in the wood shed. Thanks to over thirty folks who
turned out to help and celebrate Labor
Day! |
 |
 |
Kaylie takes time out to try her
hand at picking ripe huckleberries which grow near our
cabin. |
|
 |
We visited The HerbFarm in Fall
City and spent time with mom and dad. Dad picked pears from a
tree at The HerbFarm. Mom and dad took a tour of the Old Grey
Barn and fed the hen some bird seed! Mom and dad posed for us
with a bouquet of flowers. |
 |
While Anne and Nickki get ready to
drive to Salome, Arizona, Kaylie puts on the computer headphones
and boogies to music from the Dixie
Chicks! |
|
| By the end of Labor Day our
woodshed was full. Thomas took the group on a hike to the
waterfall on Deep Creek. Kaylie took a spin on the tricycle while
our dog, Rhys, peeked from the kitchen
window! |

The big day arrives. It's Monday,
September 13, and Anne and Nickki leave for a 1400-mile trip down
Interstate 5 to Salome Arizona. Kaylie is nestled snugly in her
back-seat driver position. |
|
 |
This is the route taken by Anne
& Nickki going from Black Diamond, Washington to Salome,
Arizona. They hoped to travel the 1465 miles in two days!
Wow! |
 |
One year ago this month, Mollie
Poppins joined our family. Here she is just waking up from her
nap! |
|
| This picture has nothing to do with
September 1999 EXCEPT that Andy was feeling left out since I
didn't have a picture of HIM at the Salome Bakery. So, Andy, here
it is. It's living proof that you actually can do a bit of work
at the Bakery, even if it tires you out to put together pizza
boxes! (Just kidding...) |

The Seattle Mariners played the
Minnesota Twins on Saturday, September 18. The game started at 6
PM. This was my first visit to the new Safeco Field -- it's
impressive. It was Mariner's key chain night, so we picked up one
for Anne! Valorie was intent on keeping score... don't know why
'cause there was an abundance of signs showing that we beat the
Twins five to zip! |
|
 |
The summer weather finally has
arrived in September. Bud and Mollie took advantage of the good
weather to go on a walk with Bob. Usually they need to be on a
leash, but we found a safe place where they could run free for a
while. Bud and Mollie both would stop and look back to see if it
was still OK to run free! They would run so hard that they left a
dust rooster-tail behind them! |
 |
Our trip to Costco was productive.
Found a new kitchen faucet and a music amplifier for Bob's
computer. Now music sounds like it should and the kitchen faucet
doesn't drip thanks to Thomas who installed the new faucet and
moved the instant hot water. Thanks
Thomas! |
|
| Ted Cowan showed off his new leaf
blower by cleaning our deck, sidewalk, front porch and driveway!
Meanwhile, Mollie & Rhys pose in their best "begging" pose,
also displaying their typical pack-animal behaviors on this
equinox in September. |

Thomas, Matt, Jen and Michelle took
advantage of sunny September weather (September 27). Mount
Rainier has wonderful hiking trails. Starting at Sunrise they
hiked up Sourdough Ridge, near the Wonderland Trail. There were
beautiful views in all directions! |
