"Insel Fehmarn", located off the Northern coast of Germany in the Baltic Sea.
An auto/train bridge connects Fehmarn to the mainland of Germany. Denmark is visible 19 kilometers to the North. Sometimes claimed as "Germany's Hawaii", the Island boasts of the most sun in all of Germany.

The size is 13 km X 23 km, with the coastline being 77 km. Petersdorf to Landkirchen was a distance of about 8 km. The 4 Church parishes are Burg, Landkirchen, Petersdorf, and Bannesdorf.

Map indicating Lemkendorf, the birthplace of Heinrich Bliesemer. It appears that the Fehmarn families of Bliesmer/Bliesemer, Langbehn and Wulf emigrated to America around the 1880's, to settle in Calumet City, Cook County, Illinois, a south Chicago suburb.

Lemkendorf was considered a "medium large" farming village.
