Brenda Sue Sharp Hiney (Granddaughter of Gettie Barnhill Harrell)

Brenda Sue Sharp Hiney, a resident of Garland, TX, for 12 years, passed away September 29, 2007, at the age of 44. She was born April 19, 1963, in Dallas, TX, to Glenn Spencer and Billie Sue (Horne) Sharp. Brenda was an easy-going, blue jean-wearing country girl who enjoyed listening to country music, collecting Indian figurines, taking care of plants and Max her Chihuahua. She was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother and faithful companion, and she will be dearly missed.

Brenda is survived by her mother: Billie Howser; son: Patrick Hiney; daughters: Candy Sue and Christine Nichole Hiney; companion and love of her life: Juan Salazar; grandchildren: Cheyenne, Marissa, Elizabeth, Jeremiah, Shelby, Emily, Joseph and Shalya; adopted son: John Joseph Salazar; brother: Glenn Sharp Jr. of Mt. Holly, NC; sisters: Sherry Kellogg of Springfield, MD, and Betty Ann Howser of Gastonia, NC. She was preceded in death by her father Glenn Sharp and grandmother Charlotte Sharp.

Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rowlett Chapel with Dr. Steve Leatherwood officiating. Visitation is prior to the service from 12:00 to 2:00pm.

 


 

Archie Horne
Madison, Wis.
Archie David Home Jr., 70, died Feb. 12, 2008, after a valiant struggle with cancer.
The funeral will be noon Monday at Floyd Mortuary Chapel, 809 E. Fifth St., Lumberton N.C., the Rev. Charlene Guider officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Faith Cemetery.

Archie was born on July 2, 1937, in Latta, S.C., He was the son of Archie and Gettie (Bamhill) Home. He grew up in St. Pauls, N.C.

After serving in the U.S Air Force, Archie married Karen Miller and raised a family in Madison, Wis. For many years he owned and operated Miller-Horne Discount in Madison. Later in life, he married Mary Salter and moved to Boscobel, Wis., where he raised longhorn cattle. In 1998, they relocated to Pardeeville, Wis. He enjoyed the outdoors, horses, flying, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his wife of 15 years, Mary Home; his children, Dale (Janell) Home, David (Lori) Home, Renee (Mike) Rogers, and Dean (Shelli) Home, ail of Wisconsin; a stepdaughter, Mary-Brett Purnell of Raleigh N.C; 11 grandchildren, David John, Deidre, Kennedi, Jordan, Cutter, Haley, Payton and Brady Home, Alyssa, Amber and Ty Rogers; and two sisters, Jean (Lynn) Shepard, and Billie Sue (David) Howser.

A special thank you to Dean and Shelli for all your love and care during Archie's illness. Love, your family.

Memorials may be made to the family for his grandchildren's education fund.

The visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.


 

Lester T. Barnhill  (Son of McDuffie and Rose Ella Alford Barnhill)

Mr. Lester T. Barnhill, 84, died Feb. 11, at his home following an illness.

Born March 3, 1923 in Mullins, Mr. Barnhill was the son of the late McDuffie Barnhill and the late Rose Ella Alford Barnhill.
Mr. Barnhill served his country with courage and honor as a Navy veteran of WWII, he owned and operated Barnhill's Body
Shop and was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Tabor City, N.C.

Survivors include: his wife, Colene Graham Barnhill of Tabor City, N.C.; two grandchildren, Brantley Todd Barnhill, Sr. and wife, Belinda, of Chadbourn, N.C., Chris D. Barnhill, and wife, Rhonda, of Green Sea; four great-grandchildren , Brittany Nicole Barnhill of Loris, Brantley T. Barnhill, II of Chadbourn, N.C., Taylor Alexander Barnhill and Katlyn Brooke Barnhill both of Green Sea; and a great-great- grandson, Kegan Blake Suggs of Loris. Mr. Barnhill is also survived by: a brother, Lloyd Barnhill of Youngsville, N.C.; six sisters, Elsie Townsend of Florence, Edna Carter of Chadbourn, N.C., Pauline Boswell, Inez Hewitt, Irene Thompson, and Thelma Barefoot all of Whiteville, N.C.

Mr. Barnhill was predeceased by: his two sons, Dennis Lester Barnhill and Ronald Brantley Barnhill and daughter-in- law, Diane S. Barnhill.

Funeral services were Feb. 13 at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with burial following at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Tabor City, N.C. Dr. Jerome Smith and Reverend Robert Ray officiated.
 

In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 121 West Main St. P.O. Box 636, Whiteville, NC 28472. Hardwick Funeral Home handled services.
 

Carson Thomas Norton (Husband of the late Alice White, & son-in-law of George & Janie Barnhill White)

Mr. Carson Thomas Norton, 86, of Cherryville, formerly of St. Pauls, died Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Kathleen Dover Hamrick Hospice House in Shelby. He was born of February 2, 1922, the son of the late Charles T. and Lena Scott Norton.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, April 14. 2008, at St. Pauls Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. David Hodge and Raymond Faircloth Sr. officiated. Burial followed in Oak Ridge Cemetery in St. Pauls.
Mr. Norton worked for Burlington Industries and for McBess Industries.
He was preceded in death by other than his parents. They include his wife, Alice White Norton, a son, Carson T. Norton, Jr. (Tennie); brothers, Walter, Oscar, Arch, Gilbert, Odell, Eartle, Wallace and Knox; and a sister, Frances.
Surviving are his wife, Sylvia C. Norton; a son, Ted Norton and his wife, Cynthia; a daughter, Janice Norton Breeden and her husband, Fred; five grandchildren, Rodney Grooms, Rick and Tina Grooms, Mary Alice Norton, and Charles Norton; and six great-grandchildren, Robert (TJ) Norton, Jeremy Norton, L. Ricky Grooms, Courtney Grooms, Tabitha Grooms and Rodney (Dusty) Grooms; a brother-in-law, David T. Carpenter; and a sister-in-law, Sandra N. Carpenter.
Pallbearers were Carl Owens, Donald Barnhill, Sparky Smith, Woody Smith, Bobby Faircloth and Bobby Pait. Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Norton and Elmo St. Romain.
