~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ NOTES: William Leonard Kersh served in Company K, 28th Alabama Volunteer Infantry Regiment, Confederate States Army, from March 29, 1862, until May 1, 1865. He enlisted in Perryville, Perry Co, AL, as a private; was promoted to first corporal, then second sergeant, and was a sergeant at the time of his discharge. He was wounded in the leg during the Battle of Murfreesboro Dec. 31-Jan 3, 1863.
