NOTES: According to the National Archives, Simpson W. Frederick was enlisted
as a Pvt. on March 15, 1862 at Scottsville, AL by Col. J. B. Harrison onto
the 44th Alabama Infantry for a period of 3 years or until the end of the
war.
He was enlisted as a Pvt. on March 15, 1862 at Scottsville, AL by Col. J.
B. Harrison onto the 44th Alabama Infantry for a period of 3 years or until
the end of the war. By June 30, 1862 he was promoted to 2nd. SgtHe was
captured on April 19, 1863 at Suffolk, VA and apparently paroled or
exchanged at Fort Monroe April 21, 1863. . He was furloughed home for 30
days on July 10, 1863. He was promoted to 1st. Sgt. Jan. 4, 1864.
On May 27, 1864 he appears on the Hospital Muster Roll, 1st Div., General
Hospital, Howard's Grove, Richmond, VA as a patient. Then shown as
transferred to Lynchburg, VA on July 10, 1864.
He shows up on August 6, 1864 at Receiving and Wayside Hospital, or General
Hospital No. 9, Richmond, VA, Transfered to General Hospital, Howard's Grove
Aug.18th and died of wounds on August 29, 1864.
Most likely buried at the Oak Grove CSA Cemetery.
