The Will of Samuel Saffell
In the name of God Amen, Twenty Fifth day of November one thousand seven
hundred and seventy six. I Samuel Saffell of Fredrick County in the
provinince of Maryland. Planter being very sick and weak in body but of
perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore call unto mind
the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once
to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say
principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands
of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be
burid in decent Christian Buriel at the decretion of my Executors nothing
doubting but at the general rescrution I shall recieve the same again by
the mighty power of God, and as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith
it has pleased God to blefs me in this life, I give devine and dispose
of the same in the following mannor and form---Imprimus I give to my will
beloved son John one shilling lawfull money of Maryland--Item I give to
my will beloved son Samuel one shilling of like money--Item I give to my
will beloved son William one shilling of like money-- Item I give to my
beloved daughter Ann one shilling of like money--Item I give to my will
beloved son James one shilling of like money--Item I give to my beloved
son Joshua one shilling of like money--Item I give to my daughter Elizabeth
one shilling of like money--Item I give to my son Charles one shilling
of like money__Item I give to my daughter Sarah one shilling of like money
to be raised and levied out of my estate---- Also I give to my beloved
wife Mary Saffell whom I likewise constitute make and ordain my sole Excutotrex
of this my last will and testament all and signature my lands Meapuages
and Tenements by her freely to be pofsefsed and enjoyed to her her
heirs Excectuors aoministers and afsigns for ever--and I do hereby utterly
disallow a dismisal all and every other former Testaments, Wills, Legacies,
Bequeaths and Executors by me in any ways before named and bequeathed ratifying
and comfirming this and no other to be my last will and testament in witnils
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the last day and year above
written-----

Montgomery County, MAy the 28th 1777. Benjamin Kelly and Griffith Daves
two of the Subscribing witnesses to thr within Will being duly sworn Depose
and say that they saw and each of them did see the witness Testator Sam.
Saffell sign & seal and his him publish and declear the eithin eriting
to be his last Will and Testament that at the time of his co doing he was
of sound and desposing mind and memory to the best of their inogm and apprehension
and that they and other witness Robert Daw , subscribed their names and
witnesses to the said Will in the presence of the Testator, and in the
presence of each other.
