The beginning of my Chamberlain family is with John Chamberlain and Rebecca Cobb. John would have been born in the mid-1700's. Nothing else is known of him or Miss Cobb except that they had one son, Thomas Chamberlain.
Thomas Chamberlain was born in South Carolina in 1784. He died in the Abbeville District of South Carolina in 1839. In Abbeville, 1812, he married Margaret Oliver. She was born in South Carolina in 1791 and died in Yalobusha Co., Mississippi in 1865. Her parents were James Oliver and Mary Hunter; and her maternal grandparents were Alexander Hunter and Jane Morrow. It is not known if Margaret is related to Elizabeth Oliver, below. Thomas and Margaret 11 children: William Cobb Chamberlain (1816); Alexander Hunter Chamberlain (1818); Alfred Chamberlain (1819); Carolina Chamberlain (1820); John Oliver Chamberlain (1821); Thomas Andrew Chamberlain (1823); Rebecca Chamberlain (1824); Lorenzo Chamberlain (1826); George Chamberlain (1829); Aridna Chamberlain (1832); Anne Elizabeth Chamberlain (1835). Thomas Andrew Chamberlain is our ancestor.
Thomas Andrew Chamberlain was born April 8, 1823 in Alabama. He died on April 4, 1884 in Grenada, Mississippi. About 1849, Thomas married Elizabeth Oliver, who was born December 8, 1834, and died March 8, 1852 in Grenada. They had, at least, one daughter, Margaret Ella Chamberlain.
Margaret Ella Chamberlain was born on July 26, 1850 in Mississippi. About 1878 she married to John James Williams. He was born on February 14, 1854 in Grenada, Mississippi and died on November 17, 1948 at Bronte, Coke County, Texas. This family can be seen on the Williams' page.
